Here at The Lawns, not only do we have staff that are specifically trained in Dementia care, but we have also created a very special and unique environment for those residents with a Dementia.
The home features an indoor parade of "lookalike" traditional shop fronts including a Grocers, a Barbers, a Haberdashery, Bakery and Pawnbroker plus a Railway ticket office and even a Post office with a working post box. Each are crammed full of memorabilia from yester-year.
All corridors and communal areas are completely "de-institutionalised" and are themed in different styles. For example a nature forest walk with woodland murals and our cosy Butterflies Cafe for relaxing with family and friends. There's even a Pub and a Police Station!
Outside each room each resident has their own personal "memory box" containing pictures or items from their own life and interests. This helps them to recognise their own living space and creates a personal feel rather than just a room number.
To recognise our outstanding work towards achieving quality person centred care we have, for the last three years, been recognised by Worcestershire County Council as one of the leading homes in Worcestershire in the area of Dementia care. As a result we have received a number of grants towards home improvements and staff training.
A visit to explore and experience all of our innovative and interesting features is highly recommended.
